Foundation and Friends is a not-for-profit membership-based organisation, devoted to supporting, protecting, and enhancing the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney, the Domain, the Australian Botanic Gardens Mount Annan, and the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens Mount Tomah.

Foundation and Friends’ vision is for ‘a thriving, connected community that leads fundraising and philanthropy to help the Gardens realise their vision.’

The team are dedicated to motivating people, communities, institutions and industries informed and inspired by our Botanic Gardens, public spaces and the Australian Institute of Botanical Science with a view to drive recognition of the importance of plants and support their conservation.

ROLE

As Philanthropy Coordinator, you will be responsible for effective relationship management, stewarding key donor programs, (including managing mid-tier donors and their Waratah program and aiding the bequest and regular giving program) whilst coordinating the engagement/events calendar.

Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy you will undertake prospect research to help identify potential donors, assist with developing pitch proposals, and work across the team to support the Philanthropy fundraising efforts including their communication plans and donor journeys along with contributing to impact reporting.

In this varied role, you will also help cultivate, network, and foster relationships with key stakeholders, and collaborate with other non-profit/community organisations to share resources, driving engagement and awareness.

The role will suit someone with demonstrated relationship and account management expertise looking to further develop/build their fundraising experience, as you get to work across multiple revenue streams and join an organisation at an exciting time of growth and investment, while knowing you work has a positive impact on our environment and community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effective relationship management of their mid-tier donor and Waratah Program, ensuring high level of engagement and renewal.
  • Undertake prospect and donor research to help identify potential donors
  • Assist with pitch documentation preparation
  • Supporting Philanthropy Lead and Digital Fundraising Lead to deliver programs
  • Support execution of donor retention program, including events, communication plans, donor journeys along with regular impact reporting.
  • Networking and fostering relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the supporter engagement events calendar, managing inbound inquiries and responding appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Maintain donor records, providing administrative support across all functions of philanthropy and fundraising team.

YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Demonstrated background in relationship management with proven success in achieving outstanding results.
  • Experience working in sales, account management or engagement in a target driven environment. Open to candidates who come from varied backgrounds, with experience outside of fundraising
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders at a variety of levels.
  • Ability to work in small dynamic environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable with initiative and drive.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people.
  • Administration experience including CRM (e.g. ThankQ and/or Salesforce), Microsoft Officer and excel.
  • Experience coordinating and delivering events desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience paid or voluntary in not for profit (within environmental or cultural institution) highly regarded.
