ORGANISATION
The Garvan Research Foundation (GRF) is the fundraising and marketing arm of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and provides financial support to the Institutes’ medical research programs and strategic priorities. The Foundation also delivers Garvan’s public engagement and awareness activities.
This is an exciting time for the Garvan Research Foundation (GRF) team in 2024, as they are in growth phase with a multi-year data strategy in place to support increased fundraising activities.
The remarkable success of the Foundation’s activities is having a catalytic impact on the Institute’s ability to make scientific contributions on a global scale that will ultimately lead to earlier diagnosis, better treatments and prevention or cure of a range of diseases.
ROLE
As Senior Database Administrator, you will use your previous experience in data administration/management, project management and communication skills to maintain and improve the Foundation’s database and associated systems. You will be providing advice and support for data processes, delivering highly targeted and segmented data for campaigns; producing reports and analysis when required.
Reporting to the Data and Business Insights Manager and joining a team of 4, you will work collaboratively with all stakeholders across the Foundation to support fundraising, marketing and internal processes.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build your previous database administration skills (Raiser’ Edge preferred) for a leading medical research organisation that values and supports their team whilst contributing to life saving research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive excellent data integrity and data management processes, within and across the CRM and other platforms (e.g. the data warehouse, donation platform, survey/forms solutions)
- Prioritise database cleanliness working on best practice ETL
- Build and run data imports, ensuring best practice standards established and delivered
- Produce accurate queries, campaign files and reports helping to improve fundraising outcomes
- Advise on best practice and future-oriented data workflows
- Ensure all related database processes have up-to-date process maps & procedure documents
- Advise on use of digital marketing tools, creating efficiencies and effective donor journeys
- Review and input into segmentation for analytics
- Deliver targeted data for fundraising campaigns using RE queries and/or established SQL queries and existing python scripts to prepare data
- Work collaboratively with the data team on the delivery of reporting and analytics
- Ensure all relevant data processes are PCI and Privacy compliant
- Focus on mitigating risk by supporting, establishing and abiding by data procedures
- Assist in data security procedures
YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- A few years’ experience in data administration/ management, Raiser’s Edge experience highly regarded
- Excellent project management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Effective problem solving and strong analytical skills
- Ability to distil information from multiple sources, whilst understanding various business objectives
- Ability to translate requests into data requirements and communicate in lay language
- Talent for analysing and improving processes and procedures
- Sound understanding of structural principles of databases
- Strong stakeholder relationship management skills
- Collaborative, consultative with strong communications
- Self-starter with innovative forward thinking attitude and strong work ethic
