About the team

The Philanthropy Unit plays a vital role in ensuring the future viability and growth of CCNSW by broadening and strengthening our fundraising base through the development of strong and lasting relationships with our major donors, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, aligned to our brand. These relationships will deliver long term, sustainable income streams for the organisation.

About the role

To strengthen and sustain the relationships of existing philanthropic donors by deepening their engagement through strategic, creative, innovative and inspiring events and activities that bring them closer to the cause.

This role is a 12-month contract.

Key responsibilities of the role

  • Lead a small team to deliver an inspiring philanthropic events calendar to create more opportunities to engage and recognise existing donors and cultivate new income
  • Develop the strategy for philanthropy/high-value events in conjunction with the Philanthropy Unit Manager and Divisional Leadership Team and in collaboration with key stakeholders and drive the execution of the strategy
  • Deliver the annual program of major events (specifically POSH Gala Ball, Research Awards, CEO cocktail function, 7 Bridges Walk)
  • Identify new event opportunities that will support philanthropic growth including a webinar program and lab tours
  • Collaborate with all key stakeholders both internally and externally to achieve agreed outcomes, ensuring strong stakeholder communication and engagement
  • Ensure and maintain streamlined briefing processes for all events which will ensure that all events remain strategically aligned to organisational goals and stakeholders are informed and engaged.
  • Manage the planning, development, and execution of a successful POSH Gala Ball annually and associated events including POSH Thank You or Corporate partner events working closely with the Philanthropy Unit Leads to achieve the expected event revenue and KPIs, including supporting Major Gift and Corporate pipelines
  • Manage and support the POSH Committee working closely with the Major Events Specialist to implement strategies for the continued success of the annual POSH Gala Ball
  • Develop and support the communication strategy for the POSH database, ensuring communication is targeted and timely
  • Develop, manage, and track income and expenditure budgets and forecasts related to the events portfolio
  • Lead in building strong relationships with existing POSH attendees and friends of POSH in conjunction with the wider Philanthropy Unit to ensure they are provided with opportunities to further engage and are effectively stewarded working closely with the Major Gifts team
  • Recruit event volunteers to support the planning and on the night delivery of POSH
  • Work with the wider Philanthropy Unit and POSH Committee to identify and secure ticket/table sales, philanthropic prospects, sponsorship opportunities, and auction items for POSH

About you

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Events, business and/or marketing and/or demonstrate transferable skills in a similar or related role
  • Five + years of fundraising event experience in the NFP sector
  • Proven record of developing and delivering high quality engagement events and strategies to deepen relationships
  • Experience in developing donor relationships and leading high performing teams
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Broad-based knowledge of best practices in various facets of partnership management
  • Demonstrated donor development skills, excellent negotiation, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and ability to negotiate and influence others
  • Must be target driven with a passion for achieving growth targets
  • Highly professional and articulate, with a genuine passion for the organisation
  • Proven ability to engage high value executive and board members and donor/client style relationships in a strategic and planned manner
  • Sound project and budget management skills
  • High level of competency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and basic understanding of databases
  • Exceptional time management skills with managing multiple projects simultaneously

Desirable:

  • Experience in delivering large-scale outdoor event logistics including appropriate risk management
