Cancer Council NSW and The University of Sydney have formed a Joint Venture, The Daffodil Centre. Cancer Council NSW is Australia's largest cancer research organisation with established links to policymakers and internationally recognised researchers. About the role

The project coordinator is a key member of the Cervical cancer and HPV stream and contributes to the team’s program of work through the performance of a broad range of research and administrative tasks. This position reports to the Program Coordinator and is a is a 12-month parental leave cover contract.

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Coordinate a team of investigators from multiple organisations working together on a large philanthropically funded project of Cervical Cancer elimination in the Western Pacific.
  • Assist in the preparation of content for competitive grants, tenders, and approach to markets to secure funding.
  • Lead the contract review and execution process for all cervical cancer and HPV stream projects.
  • Develop project plans, and support the delivery of research outputs in accordance with agreed plans and timelines.
  • Maintain databases to effectively track and forecast research outputs, resource requirements, and finances.
  • Represent the stream at meetings with the Daffodil Centre research operations and support team.
  • Provide secretariat support at internal and external meetings, including meetings with International collaborators.
  • Support the timely preparation of publications, reports, presentations and research outputs.
  • Work effectively with software applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, and communication tools.
  • Methodically maintain accurate research records, ensuring appropriate privacy, and confidentiality standards are upheld.
  • Support the ethical conduct of research, by draft ethics applications, reports and anticipate the ethics requirements for upcoming projects.
  • Display project management skills to assist the Cervical cancer and HPV stream to meet project timelines.

About You

  • A tertiary qualification with public health, research related area or an equivalent level of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated superior organisational and communication skills (both written and oral); including ability to prioritise and organise own workload
  • High level of competence in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and intermediate Excel and Access.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively as part of a team; taking initiative in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
  • High level attention to detail
  • Demonstrated understanding of the need to adhere to information privacy and confidentiality guidelines
  • A demonstrated interest in a career in health research
  • You may have prior experience working in a public health research environment or clinical environment
  • You may have prior experience coordinating multi-institutional projects
