School Program Facilitator - Centre for Disability Employment Research and Practice

Work First

About us

CDERP's work is evidenced based and supported by our many years of research and practice in the field. Currently we are investing time improving the outcomes for students, transitioning through their final years of school, into the community. We recognised the gap and plan to provide and support the schools to produce self-advocating and confident students.

By the end of our program the students will have created a blueprint for their chosen career path and some may already be engaging with their chosen industry prior to leaving school as a result of their participation. We strive ourselves to constantly improve and create further opportunities for people with disabilities.

You will be required to:

Casual Work is 9:30 a.m.- 2 p.m. on-site with the students. All other hours can be done from home. Must be able to work Wednesdays. Perfect role if you have children at school.

You must be able to facilitate the program within the school setting. You will receive appropriate training and ongoing support through our college and from our experienced team.

You will support the students to engage with the activities and encourage independent work to continue outside of the school grounds. The program is clearly instructed, all manuals and resources are provided. The presentation of the materials however will be determined by your teaching style.

Experience

In order to be successful in this role, you must have an understanding of disability, experience and qualification in either education or training. You must present yourself in a professional manner. Experience in employment based practices would be of benefit but not necessary. Most importantly, you must be passionate about helping others.

Expectation of the role

This program will be active across Victoria in different school settings. Feedback and data collection will be a significant part of your role. You will work with a school for a 6 month period and may be working with a few schools at a time. Therefore you will need to be organised and proficient with your time.

This role is flexible. Starting at casual two days a week (you must be able to work Wednesdays), you can be offered more work upon request. During the holiday period, progress reports and planning will be required, and this can be done from home—great if you have children. All staff who work for CDERP must support the team across the different programs that we run. We are a small team and occasionally are required to support one another when needed.

Other work CDERP does

Our other work consists of the WorkFirst program- Individual support for those seeking employment, research, policy and practice reform, and organisational and community training and education. Experience in these areas are not required but would be beneficial in securing the role.

Location

This role would suit someone living in the Western suburbs of Melbourne or the inner city. You are required to drive for your role and will be compensated appropriately.
