With a portfolio of more than 2000 properties, managed by 90+ housing co-operatives, CEHL provides local and national co-operative housing sector leadership and advocacy to deliver positive solutions to the housing affordability crisis.
ABOUT THE CEHL BOARD
- Eleven Directors
- Five (5) Directors elected by CEHL Member Co-ops
- Five (5) independent Directors appointed for their specific skills
- The Managing Director
- CEHL Board Meetings are held during business hours. There are approximately eight meetings per year and a Board Strategic Planning Day. Board meetings and Strategy Day are face-to-face events held in the CEHL office in Carlton.
- Directors are also requested to sit on one CEHL Board Committee. Board Committees meet 6 - 8 times per year; meetings are generally after hours and online.
- Preparatory reading for each Board and Committee is generally 2 - 3 hours.
- From time to time, Directors are invited to participate in activities with member co-ops.
- Directors serve a two-year term and may be reappointed.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Serve as an independent Director on the Board of CEHL.
- Provide support and guidance to the Chair of the Board.
- Assist the Board to manage potential conflicts of interest.
- Act as a governance role model and professional exemplar in all matters concerning CEHL.
- Chair the Audit & Risk Committee of the Board.
- Abide by CEHL policies and procedures, particularly the code of conduct.
- Contribute productively and respectfully to the work of the Board.
ABOUT YOU
- Experienced public company Director.
- Significant senior executive experience in finance, accounting and risk (ideally, with exposure to the property sector).
- CPA or Chartered Accountant qualification essential.
- GAICD qualification essential.
- Alignment with CEHL’s strategic purpose.
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Provide a Director Identification Number.
- Consent to CEHL undertaking relevant due diligence checks.
- Sign a Consent to Act as a Director.
- Sign a confidentiality deed.
- Sign a deed of indemnity, access and insurance.
- Complete a register of interests.
- Provide certified copies of all educational transcripts.
