Wungening is a community controlled organisation delivering counselling, education, advocacy and support services including drug and alcohol, family violence services and accommodation and justice programs.
About the Role
As the Team Leader you will play an integral role in leading a team of staff providing high quality intake, assessment and support services to families whose children are at risk of being taken into care. The service will have a focus on supporting the needs of Aboriginal children, young people and families. In addition this will involve outreach services to families living in the community, and will utilise a trauma-informed, persistent case management approach.
A Few Specifics
- This multi-faceted role will provide you with plenty of opportunity for variety in your work as well as the challenge of being part of an exciting program as it becomes more aligned with the Department’s EIFS Strategy.
- Actively engage with the wider community on a regular basis, liaising with the local CPFS District Offices, other family support providers and other services to source culturally secure options and outcomes for children, young people and families involved in these services.
- You will also be responsible for engaging with the local Aboriginal community and elders to ensure the service remains relevant and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal children, young people and families.

Skills and Experience
- Recognised tertiary level qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Counselling and/or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with other organisations to achieve positive community outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience providing intensive, in-home support to children, young people and families.
- Demonstrated experience providing culturally secure services to Aboriginal children, young people and families.
- Sound therapeutic knowledge and skills.
- Well-developed communication skills, written and verbal.
- An understanding of culturally appropriate, strength based approaches to client services.
- Ability to lead and work within a multiagency, multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work Monday to Friday with the ability to work between 7 am to 8 pm on a rostered basis and provide after hours, on call support.
