Membership Officer

This position is the initial contact point for CFMEU members and staff, employers, employer organisations, and other contacts. The position requires excellent customer service, administration and organisational skills.

Accurate and speedy data entry is essential along with the ability to track and prioritise calls and tasks to ensure enquiries are followed up and the response meets the expectations of our members, partner organisations, and other stakeholders.

The position offers excellent working conditions, with 35 contact hours and rostered days off.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls, greet people presenting at reception and provide them with assistance directly or refer them to the appropriate team.
  • Help members join, pay their dues, and change their details or membership status.
  • Manage and maintain member data within the organisations membership system.
  • Provide membership data and reports to staff as required.
  • Assist in the administration and processing of new members.
  • Process member benefits and insurances in a timely manner.
  • Log and distribute incoming mail and outbound mail.
  • File and maintain physical and digital archives.
  • Maintain stocks of stationery and other disposables and consumables
  • Provide assistance and administrative support to other staff.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience with data management and/or customer relationship management applications including the ability to enter and extract data and prepare reports from a database.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and self-manage workloads.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to maintain a positive attitude and provide friendly service under time pressure.
