ABOUT CHANGE THE RECORD

Change the Record is Australia’s only national, First Nations-led coalition of legal, health, family violence, and campaigning experts. We work to end family violence against First Nations women and children and reduce the over-incarceration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our campaigns focus on holistic, evidence-based solutions that address the root causes of violence and systemic injustice while empowering community-driven change.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Campaign Manager, you will lead efforts to drive impactful, high-profile campaigns that shape national conversations and create real, sustainable change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You’ll be responsible for designing innovative strategies to mobilise communities, influence government policy, and engage a diverse range of stakeholders.

Building on the success of campaigns such as Raise the Age, you will further strengthen our national voice and push crucial reforms over the line. In 2025, Change the Record will launch a new campaign to address the crisis of Missing and Murdered First Nations Women and Children. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring this campaign has maximum reach and impact.

    You are a passionate advocate for justice with a proven ability to lead impactful campaigns that mobilise communities and influence policy change. With experience addressing issues such as over-incarceration, systemic racism, or family violence, you are deeply committed to achieving justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

    You thrive in dynamic, collaborative environments, working closely with small teams and diverse stakeholders. Skilled in strategic thinking and communication, you can effectively engage and inspire others, while adapting to fast-paced, evolving challenges.     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Campaign Strategy & Leadership: Develop and lead creative, high-impact campaign strategies to mobilise public support, influence policy decisions, and drive key outcomes.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, government bodies, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
    • Movement Building: Cultivate a sense of unity and shared purpose among supporters, empowering them to take action, while developing innovative ways to strengthen community involvement and engagement.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with the Leadership Team and coalition partners to ensure cohesive, coordinated efforts across campaigns.
    • Amplify Voices: Support First Nations people with lived experience of family violence and the justice system to share their stories and be active change-makers in the movement.

    ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

    The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate their ability to meet the following criteria:

    • Campaign Expertise: Demonstrated experience in leading successful justice campaigns that have mobilised communities and influenced government or policy outcomes.
    • Commitment to Justice: A deep commitment to achieving justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly in the areas of family violence and criminal justice.
    • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to develop and execute high-level strategies that adapt to fast-changing environments and deliver measurable outcomes.
    • Stakeholder Management: Experience building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community leaders, NGOs, and government representatives.
    • Leadership & Teamwork: Experience leading and working collaboratively in small, dynamic teams with the ability to mentor and inspire others.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience in writing impactful content for diverse audiences (media, supporters, government).

    DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA

    • Campaign Expertise in Justice/Family Violence: Proven experience leading campaigns that address critical issues impacting First Nations communities, such as over-incarceration, systemic racism, and family violence, with a focus on advocating for culturally informed solutions and driving meaningful, long-term change.

    • Digital Campaigning: Proficiency in using online platforms and digital tools to drive campaign actions and community engagement.

    • Lived Experience: First Nations applicants and those with lived experience in the justice system or family violence will be highly regarded.
