Centre Coordinator

The Charleville Neighbourhood Centre is seeking a passionate and experienced community service professional to join our team as the Centre Coordinator.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication and organisational skills providing leadership, guidance and support to the Neighbourhood Centre team.

A knowledge of Government funded community based programs will be favourably considered.

About the role

Manage all general operations of the Neighbourhood Centre. Coordinate the date-to-day operations of the Charleville Neighbourhood Centre working with the Management Committee to determine and deliver strategic direction as aligned with program funding requirements and specifications.

The position is based in Charleville and covers the Shires of Murweh, Paroo, Bulloo, Quilpie, Balonne and Maranoa.

The Neighbourhood Centre delivers a range of Commonwealth and Queensland Government funded programs, working collaboratively with other service providers, peer and community networks, and local government agencies.

It is imperative that the successful applicant have exceptional communication skills and the ability and willingness to work in a team environment with a client centred focus.

The successful applicant must have:

  • Excellent level of interpersonal, written, oral and electronic skills including the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Organisational and time management skills is essential.

  • Meeting client needs
  • Communication and public liaison
  • Corporate governance
  • HR management, workplace health and safety
  • Possession of a current “C” class Manual Driver’s Licence.
  • Hold a ‘Positive Notice’ Blue Card, and consent to having a National Police Criminal check.
  • Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate or attend first training available.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Highly regarded: Diploma in Community Services or Community Development with demonstrated experience in a similar role for minimum of 2 years.
  • Experience: Workplace experience in a similar role for minimum of 2 years.

Skills, competencies and attributes required – Selection Criteria

  • Excellent organisational, analytical skills with the ability to apply a high level of knowledge to develop and implement operational procedures.
  • Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication and numeracy skills including report writing skills and demonstrated skills in the operation of computer applications, with the ability to adapt to other applications as required.
  • Proven work planning and time management skills with an ability to work under pressure to achieve outcomes required.
  • Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to liaise with Government Departments, internal and external organisations, clients, service providers, stakeholders and centre staff consistent with organisational goals, policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate with all age groups, backgrounds and abilities in a manner consistent with organisational goals, policy and procedures, with a commitment to the principles of anti-discrimination and equal opportunity in the workplace.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals, families and communities with varying needs including the ability to work independently or as part of a team with a good understanding of community-based programs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of service agreements, relevant legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice, guidelines including governance and financial transactions pertaining to Neighbourhood Centre positions.
  • Display personal character strengths of trust, respect, integrity, fairness and confidentiality with an ability to exercise professionalism by contributing to a harmonious working environment.
