PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

This role will define and deliver ChildFund Australia’s strategic ambition to address the impacts of climate change. You will lead strategy development and technical design and implementation of high-quality programs that mitigate climate change induced shocks and deliver change for children in both development and emergency programming.

KEY DUTIES

  • Harmonise climate resilience across the ChildFund Australia Strategic Plan and Country Strategic Alignment Papers
  • Be a key contributor to the adaptation and implementation of ChildFund Australia’s Pacific Strategy, with a focus on climate resilience/climate justice
  • Build the capacity of Country Office staff and partners in key technical approaches to climate resilience
  • Work closely with the International Programs Team to ensure that child sensitive climate change programming is embedded across education, child protection, social & emotional learning (SEL)and health approaches
  • Lead the technical scoping, planning, design and technical inputs to proposals
  • Collaborate with the Senior Policy and Advocacy Advisor to influence policy in countries of operation and outcomes at international fora
  • Work closely with business development and grants colleagues to pursue new funding opportunities
  • Engage in sector based technical working groups and represent ChildFund Australia at interagency meetings
  • Supervisory responsibility
  • Contribute to organisational learning and commitments to address climate change

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • University qualification in relevant field (social sciences, science
  • At least five (5) years' experience in a DRM/CCA role
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement / partnership management
  • Proven experience in capacity building
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in the international aid and development sector

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in a child rights agency
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender equality, disability, and social inclusion
  • Experience working in the Pacific

Employment: Full time, 1 year contract with possibility of extension
