Circle Green Community Legal (Circle Green) is a community legal centre in Western Australia providing state-wide specialist legal services in employment, workplace discrimination, residential tenancy law, family and domestic violence, and humanitarian services aimed at assisting people who are otherwise disadvantaged in their access to legal services.

Our Purpose is to create a system, place, and space to ensure a safety net of best practice legal advice, education, and advocacy in our specialist fields.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to provide high quality client support interventions. You will advocate with and on behalf of the client to meet wider social, health and well-being needs. You will be responsible for undertaking tasks that support case management, documentation, referrals and appointments.

Reporting to the Director Services, you will join our dedicated team to make a profound impact on the lives of our Tenancy and Humanitarian clients who may include those experiencing financial hardship, risk of eviction from housing, refugees, asylum seekers and clients seeking visa assistance.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide clinical social work service to clients of Circle Green. Support clients in a trauma informed way that assist them to understand the information, advice and options provided by legal staff.
  • Provide a range of support interventions within a development framework that enables clients to address their needs and improve quality of life.
  • Use regular networking and community service to promote the service, to enable effective referrals and stay informed of client referral options.
  • Stakeholder engagement. Develops and maintains respectful and responsive relationships with staff and agencies. Ensures effective two way communication with all key stakeholders.
  • Where required, attend and facilitate forums, meetings, working groups related to the role.
  • Assist with the completion of data collection, auditing and analysis of clients' files.
  • Maintain and meet monthly data collection, client feedback and monthly reporting requirements.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a Social Worker with a client centred support approach and a commitment to providing high quality services to vulnerable people. Shortlisted candidates will have:

Qualification and Experiences:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work and be eligible for full membership in the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • 3-5 years' experience in evidenced based case management practice
  • Experience in supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged groups
  • Experience working in a community legal centre or other multi-disciplinary environment (desirable)

Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of varied methods of assessment, case management and evaluation of social work practice.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to support Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) clients, family members and significant others by listening to and understanding the experience of mental health issues, being sensitive to cultural norms and use of interpreting services as required.
  • Ability to manage a clinical caseload and effective time management.
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently or as a member of a multi disciplinary team.
