About Us:

CLCAC was established over 40 years ago in Burketown to represent the rights & interests of Traditional Owners. Our members are drawn from nine language groups whose traditional lands & waters are located in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria. As the recognised Native Title Service Body for the Southern Gulf of Carpentaria region, CLCAC performs statutory functions in accordance with the provisions of the Native Title Act 1993. An elected Board determines the Organisation’s priorities and monitors the progress of native title applications and oversees operational activities and general governance.

 CLCAC supports native title, Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) Economic Development, Land & Environment and Indigenous Ranger programs in Burketown, Normanton, Gregory & Mornington Island.

 The Opportunity:

As the Finance Officer you will work closely with all units in the Organisation to ensure the objectives of the unit are met, be responsible for creditor and debt management, financial reporting, maintaining CLCAC’s portable and attractive asset schedule and monitor equipment warranties. You will also be the first point of contact for staff to report IT issues and liaise with IT Support as required.

The successful applicant for this role will be someone with relevant qualifications, who is dynamic, relationship and outcome focused with excellent communication skills and who shares our core values. Your work will support our vision and contribute to the delivery of our key objectives.

You will work with the Corporate Services team and play a vital role in supporting the overall finance process as well as work closely with all units in the Organisation to achieve this. This position reports to CLCAC's Senior Finance Officer. The successful applicant must have the following:

Eligibility / Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

Essential:

  • Certificate IV in Accounting or Business Management or similar.
  • Competency in MYOB Bookkeeping or similar.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with IT Systems.
  • National Police Clearance.
  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
  • A keen eye for detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Diploma or higher in Accounting or Business Management or similar field.
  • Experience with BAS Reporting.
  • Experience working with indigenous people.
  • Experience supporting remote work units.

What We Offer:

This is a full-time position based in Cairns, with some travel throughout the Lower Gulf of Carpentaria region.

  • Salary Range Level 3.3 to Level 4.4 Corporate Administration Salary plus super per annum to be negotiated depending on qualifications and experience;
  • CLCAC is a Private Benevolent Institution: Salary Sacrifice arrangements and Meal Entertainment Benefit are available;
  • Generous Leave entitlements including 5 weeks annual leave and up to two weeks paid Christmas shutdown;
  • Generous Long Service Leave entitlement of 13 weeks after 7 years of continuous service.
