Junior Ranger Project Coordinator - Cairns

Carpentaria Land Council Aboriginal Corporation

Empower the next generation: Be part of something new with the Junior Ranger Program!

Are you ready to shape the future of environmental stewards and cultural leaders in the Southern Gulf of Carpentaria?

Carpentaria Land Council Aboriginal Corporation is proud to launch a newly funded Junior Ranger Program, and we're seeking a passionate Junior Ranger Project Coordinator to bring this initiative to life.

As the key driver of this pilot program, you'll work with schools, communities, families, Registered Training Organisations (RTO), and the Department of Education to create pathways for students returning to Country. Your role will bridge traditional learning with modern education, developing partnerships and delivering a culturally relevant, school-based program that fosters the next generation of rangers.

Key highlights of this exciting opportunity:

  • Be a Pioneer: Lead a newly established program aimed at linking the Australian curriculum with on-Country learning.
  • Collaborate & Inspire: Work directly with schools, families, and community groups to cultivate environmental awareness and cultural pride.
  • Shape Careers: Help Indigenous students connect with their heritage while pursuing training in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
  • On-the-Ground Impact: Be the conduit between schools, rangers, and organisations to ensure the success of this initiative.
  • Adventure & Growth: Travel across regional Queensland and engage deeply with communities to nurture a connection to the land.

What's needed for your success

To succeed in this role, you'll need a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and ideally, a Certificate IV in Project Management. Your background should reflect strong engagement and collaboration skills, with experience partnering with schools, VET providers and the like. Your understanding of environmental conservation and Indigenous cultural heritage would be highly valuable and if you identify as a First Nations person, we definitely want to hear from you. If you're someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, are resilient, creative and have a passion for empowering young people, this is the perfect role for you!

What's on offer

This is a fixed-term role until 19 December 2025 with the possibility of extension dependant on funding. The salary package includes superannuation and tax-free benefits. Generous annual leave, time off at Christmas and lots more await. You'll be supported by a dedicated team, with the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for the Traditional Owners of the Southern Gulf.
