Applications are invited for the position of Co-ordinator of Clifton Child Care Co-operative (12 month contract) This is an exciting opportunity to lead a well established and collaborative team to create a dynamic learning environment where the children's wellbeing is at the forefront of our practice.

Clifton Child Care Co-operative is a small 27 place not for profit parent managed community-based childcare centre and funded kindergarten. Clifton Co-op provides a warm, homely atmosphere that is greatly appreciated by children, families and staff. Clifton Co-op can offer you above award pay commensurate with your qualifications. The role is 0.8 FTE (i.e. working an eight day fortnight)

Position overview

The Co-ordinator is responsible for the overall management of Clifton Co-op and leadership of staff. As well as managing the day to day operations and the pedagogical and curricular development, that Co-ordinator will take the lead in stewarding the community, building effective partnerships and driving organisational culture.

The role reports directly to the committee of management.

The Co-ordinator of Clifton Child Care Co-op is a significant role and requires:

  • A motivated leader to be responsible for the daily management of all aspects of the service in accordance with Clifton Co-op's policies
  • A mentor to lead and inspire the team and foster an engaging learning environment for children, staff and the Co-operative members
  • A leader to motivate and effectively unite the team and implement quality practice
  • A strong communicator who builds community connections and strategic partnerships
  • A leader to operate within the agreed policies and procedures to ensure that compliance to all relevant laws and regulations and incorporates the Early Years Learning Frameworks

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and implementation of a quality educational program
  • Lead the promotion of health and safety of all staff and children
  • Lead the team to build positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • Lead the effective administration and management of the service

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Proven experience in financial management and administration
  • Proven skills in the management and professional development of a team
  • Knowledge and abilities to implement EYLF processes
  • Knowledge of the administrative accountability requirements
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate policies and procedures
  • Proven effective communication and leadership skills
  • Experience in working with children
  • Current Working with Children Check, Senior First Aid certificate, approved anaphylaxis and asthma management training (or willing to complete training)

Desirable

  • Historical and current knowledge of the early learning sector
  • Experience in working with a volunteer Committee of Management
  • Experience in the not for profit and/or social enterprise sector
  • Proficient computer skills - in particular Microsoft Office and QikKids
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor in Early Childhood Education
