• Climate 200 is expanding our Major Donor Team to meet our ambitious goals to back independents in the next Federal election.
• This pivotal new role will identify new potential significant donors to Climate 200 and inspire them to provide 5-7 figure support for our election campaign.

About Climate 200

Climate 200 helps level the playing field for independent community campaigns committed to science-based climate action, restoring integrity to politics, and gender equality. Climate 200 has supported the election of over a dozen community independents since 2019 at state and federal levels, and has helped turn a raft of seats marginal — putting climate, integrity and gender equality front and centre of politics.

Climate 200 has an even bigger vision for the next Federal Election, which will require our small, high-performing team to achieve significant fundraising, capacity-building and strategic communications goals.

About the role

As our Major Giving Lead you will play a crucial role in cultivating and stewarding direct relationships with high-net-worth individuals and families. The role reports directly to the Head of Community who leads Major Philanthropic Support.Donations to Climate 200 are not tax-deductible, needed fast, and an impact opportunity of the highest order. The Major Giving Lead must be able to create direct relationships with donors in order to deliver their support. Key responsibilities include:

• Identify and approach HNWs with high potential to support Climate 200, through research and activation of existing networks.
• Develop and implement personalised cultivation and fundraising strategies to build relationships with potential donors, aligning their interests with the mission and goals of Climate 200.
• Secure donor commitments to the community independents movement.
• Inspire and empower new donors to activate giving circles within their networks.
• Deliver major donor appeals to acquire, retain and reactivate major donors.
• Help deliver an integrated retention and engagement program.
• Prepare compelling presentations and reports on specific funding priorities.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop these.

About you

This role is suited to someone well networked who is passionate about climate, improving our political system and thrives in a fast paced environment. Our team is highly collaborative and no two days look the same.

You'll thrive in this role if you have:

• A proven track record in philanthropic or investment fundraising, sales, or client management in the charitable giving, investment or wealth management sectors.
• Demonstrated success soliciting and closing major gifts or deals with high-net-worth individuals and families, to 6+ figures.
• Demonstrated success in planning and implementing investor or donor relationship management and acquisition strategies.
• Have a flair for creating and maintaining relationships.
• A strong passion for, and a grasp of the work Climate 200 does.
• Are a self-starter and a doer – you're happy to work autonomously and with ambiguity, rolling up your sleeves to build and execute plans, fast.
• Are able to manage complex projects and drive them to completion.
• Strong problem solving and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts persuasively and effectively to inspire people to action.
• The ability to work as part of a highly collaborative, fast-paced team.

Desirable skills and experience include (non-essential):

• Have developed a network of high net worth contacts that trust them.
• Existing tech / climate investor networks
