About MYAN

Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network Australia (MYAN) is the national peak body representing the rights and interests of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds – Australia’s national voice on multicultural youth issues.

MYAN is auspiced and chaired by the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY).

MYAN works in partnership with young people, government and non-government agencies at the state and national levels to support a consistent approach to addressing the rights and needs of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in policy and service delivery. MYAN facilitates a national approach to youth settlement through its broad networks and partners in each state and territory. MYAN also supports the development of young people’s leadership and advocacy skills through national youth events and a national Youth Ambassador’s Network.

About the Role

The South Australia Project Support Officer is the key role to engage young people at the state and territory level in meaningful activities and consultations across various domains including anti-racism at school, preventive health, podcast production, and policy advocacy efforts to contribute to the national scope of MYAN’s work to ensure the success of these projects within each state and territory, MYAN seeks to recruit a dedicated Project Support Officer for South Australia who is living in Adelaide.

The South Australia Project Support Officers will be responsible to deliver high quality administration support to the delivery of projects in coordination with the National Officer and MYAN Partners. In particular, the project support officer will be responsible for processing volunteer applications, managing child safety checks, and organising youth recruitment, work with team in projects’ related events and coordinating the consultations.

This position is ideal for someone with a passion for making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds through innovative and inclusive projects.

  • Hours: approximately 15 hours per week
  • Casual role
  • Hourly rate (SCHADS Level 3): $46.69 per hour including 25% loading plus Super
  • Location: Work from Home
  • Interviews: to be held in the week beginning 19th August 2024

You will have:

  1. Experience in project support, coordination, or a closely related field, with a demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects and initiatives.
  2. Exceptional organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with youth, stakeholders, and partners.
  3. Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment, with strong problem-solving skills.
  4. Understanding of multicultural issues, diversity, and inclusion principles, especially within the Australian context.
  5. Relevant tertiary education and/or professional development in project management, community engagement, or related disciplines is desirable.
