About CMY

The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Victoria, providing specialist knowledge and support to young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds. Our vision is that young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds are connected, empowered and influential Australians.

About Reverb

REVERB 2.0 will support the mental health and wellbeing of culturally diverse young people by implementing activities that promote mental health awareness and culturally responsive care through a partnership between multicultural young people, the CMY and headspace National. Reverb uniquely places multicultural young people at the centre as experts in lived experience and advocates for change, who will co-design and co-deliver the program. The idea of Reverb came from CMY’s Youth Advisory Group initially as a Youth Led project, and we are continuing to hear that mental health is a priority area for young people in CMY’s networks.

About the Role

This is a great opportunity to get involved in project design that will directly impact young people and communities. The Youth Advocate position will primarily be responsible for co-designing mental health workshops for school aged students, and capacity building workshops for headspace centres. The Youth Advocate will also co-deliver the workshops alongside CMY and headspace staff, as well as undertake training to build their knowledge and capacity in the mental health area. The role may also assist the Project Lead with the planning, and evaluation of the workshops delivered.

The Youth Advocate may have the opportunity to support other areas of the Youth Participation team and more broadly CMY when opportunities arise.
