About the role

cohealth's Media and Strategic Communications Specialist is a senior position responsible for managing and improving cohealth's public reputation, managing crisis, providing strategic advice to leaders and developing and implementing media and communication strategies.

Partnering with the Communications Manager and working closely with cohealth's Leadership Team, this role will support the implementation of cohealth's Communications, Advocacy and Engagement strategy, leading on the media components.

This role is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate cohealth's impact by elevating community voices and advocating for health and social equity through engaging media and communications.

Your duties include:

  • Draw on industrial expertise to strategically advise the Executive team on cohealth's approach to media opportunities and responses
  • Lead all crisis media management, by providing timely strategic advice and coordination of responses
  • Serve as the primary contact for all media enquiries, working closely with leaders to provide a timely response aligned with cohealth's brand messaging
  • Partner with the Communications Manager to build and maintain cohelth's key strategic partnership and implement strategic communications projects

Our ideal candidate:

  • A tertiary qualification in media or communications and/or significant demonstrated experience
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated experience leading, or contributing to, the development and implementation of media and communication strategies
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of the Australian media landscape and solid existing relationships with journalists
  • Experience working closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide strategic advice on best practice media approaches

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Police Check, a Working With Children Check (WWCC), complete a Pre-Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 (3 doses). Additionally, some roles will also require current AHPRA registration and/or NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

Roles that are determined to be Risk Category A or B [staff that have direct and/or indirect contact with body substances and are at higher risk of occupational exposure to infections] will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza prior to commencement [A] or within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders for COVID-19 and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
