About the role

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach is responsible for providing flexible, intensive recovery-based support to young people who are experiencing metal health challenges. This is achieved by working collaboratively with families, clinical supports, and other internal and external service providers to ensure a holistic approach based on recovery principles and trauma-informed practice.

Staff will be required to work rostered shifts between 8am and 7pm, including some weekend work between 9 am and 5pm.

Your duties include:

  • Provide recovery-oriented services to young people (particularly those of a more complex nature
  • Provide group and individual support to young people with regards to independent living skills, recreation and social / community skills.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including family and carers, clinical and community supports (mental health, AOD, housing etc)
  • Participate in the co-design, facilitation and evaluation of a range of group activities.

Our ideal candidate

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or commensurate work experience in fields related to mental health, youth or health
  • Proof of qualification to be sighted
  • Full Victorian Drivers License required
  • Demonstrated experience in working with young people who may have a range of complex needs relating to their mental health.
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation.

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Police Check, a Working with Children Check (WWCC), complete a Pre-employment declaration form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 (3 doses). Additionally, some roles will also require current AHPRA registration and/or NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

Roles that are determined to be Risk Category A or B [staff that have direct and/or indirect contact with body substances and are at higher risk of occupational exposure to infections] will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza prior to commencement [A] or within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders for COVID-19 and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
