Consumers of Mental Health WA (CoMHWA) is the peak body for consumers of mental health services in WA. As a community based not for profit organisation, CoMHWA understands, listens and acts upon the voice of consumers of mental health and the wider community.
The Education & Peer Workforce Officer, reporting to the Education & Peer Workforce Manager, develops, implements, and delivers education and training initiatives to support, increase, and build the capacity of individuals with a lived experience of mental health issues to be self-determined, self-empowered and respected as people.
In addition, the role will work collaboratively to create new Peer workforce pathways for individuals with mental health issues through training, placement support and capacity building for peer workers and employers.
In this busy environment, you will be supported by an organisation made up of various subject-matter experts, including systemic advocacy, system navigation, independent advocacy and sector representation and leadership. Your work will be informed by on-going consumer and sector engagement, focus groups, needs analysis, and contemporary education methods.
Mental health is a fast-moving sector, and this role will come with great variety and may see you lend a helping hand on projects and events throughout the year in addition to regular duties.
Essential minimum requirements:
Research shows that candidates from underrepresented groups (Aboriginal, Torres Strait and Pacific Islander peoples, people of colour, women, non-binary and gender diverse people, LGBTQIA+ communities, and people with disability) often do not apply for roles if they do not meet all the criteria – unlike majority candidates meeting significantly fewer requirements. We strongly encourage you to apply if you are interested, we would love to know how you can contribute to our team with your unique experiences.
