The Role

Join our dynamic Family Community Safety Services Team in a pivotal role as Manager Therapeutic Services.

This position entails the successful leadership and management of Communicare’s range of Counselling and Behaviour Change programs. As the Manager, you will lead the delivery of high-quality services by identifying and implementing initiatives to enhance service efficiency and effectiveness.

Your responsibilities include fostering strategic relationships and partnerships within the sector to elevate service delivery and broaden access to support for individuals and families. You will play a crucial role in identifying and nurturing growth opportunities aligned with Communicare’s strategic plan.

As a leader, you will provide values-driven guidance to staff within these programs, ensuring the delivery of exceptional services. By cultivating strategic alliances and implementing innovative initiatives, you will drive positive outcomes for the community.

This position will be offered on a Permanent Full-time basis working 76 hours per fortnight. This opportunity has the option to be based in Rockingham, Perth, Cannington or Fremantle, with travel between sites required.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Eligible for Registration with AHPRA Psychology Board of Australia, Australian Counselling Association or other relevant professional body
  • A successful and proven track record in managing large teams across multiple areas and disciplines in complex human service delivery environments within a community services / not for profit related environment.
  • Demonstrated high level time management and task management skills, and ability to work under limited direction.
  • Demonstrated experience of autonomous facilitation of counselling or therapeutic intervention with families.
  • Broad range of knowledge of individual and group counselling modalities.
  • Expert knowledge of family and relationship counselling or therapeutic practices.
  • Experience in building and maintaining engagement of multiple stakeholders.
  • Principles of harm minimisation, social justice, professional ethics, and advocacy.
  • Advanced negotiation, influencing and advocacy skills.
  • Practice based experience and knowledge of the family violence and child protection sectors, including an understanding of the relevant legislative frameworks and standards.
  • Well-developed understanding of risk management and emergency response strategies, policies, procedures with experience in supporting staff in their implementations
  • Experience in change management and the ability to work within contract and compliance obligations.
  • Advanced communication (written, verbal and public speaking), interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Unrestricted drivers’ licence.
  • Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
  • Current Working with Children Check
