Teacher - Education Centre Gippsland College - Warragul

Community College Gippsland
  • Did you become a teacher because you wanted to make a difference?
  • Do you wish you had time to really get to know your students and genuinely individualise their learning pathways?

If so, you might be just the person we are looking for.

about us

ECG Secondary College is an alternative secondary school. We provide VCAL education (soon to be VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways Certificate) in Warragul, Pakenham and Leongatha.

With a focus on welfare and wellbeing, we strive to ensure that every student is safe, accepted, valued for who they are and well-equipped for the world beyond our school.

We are looking for a VIT-registered teacher with a passion for innovative education. This is a full-time role, however, part-time may be considered.

With small class sizes and a delivery model similar to a primary school (one main teacher), you will have the opportunity to teach across areas and to nurture your students’ interests and passions. Excursions and life experiences are encouraged.

The successful candidate will be a flexible, creative and resilient team player with a genuine passion for empowering young people.

We are also seeking Tutors and CRTs to have an ongoing connection to ECG College.

What we are offering

This full-time position provides salary packaging opportunities and a great work environment for our team of teachers.

Our work is challenging but enormously rewarding. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing our students succeed.

We love what we do and we think you will love us.

We are:

  • Different - our school was established as an alternative to mainstream schooling with a focus on catering to inspiring disengaged students
  • Flexible – we tailor educational delivery to reflect the learning strategies and interests of our students
  • Hands-on - we promote active learning through participation in practical tasks designed to develop initiative and innovation
  • Caring - our teaching and learning model is underpinned by a primary focus on student welfare and wellbeing
  • Small - class sizes are kept small to ensure our students have the time and support they need
  • Supportive - resident youth workers are an essential part of our school team.

We care about:

  • The whole person - our overriding focus is on developing the unique skills of each individual student with an understanding of their prior life experiences
  • A tailored approach – meeting the students where they are with an individualised approach that guides them to succeed, as opposed to the delivery of a standardised curriculum
  • The learning environment – we believe in creating a safe, caring and inspiring environment to learn in that accepts and values our students for who they are
  • Results that reflect our students goals - we aim to ensure that each graduate is empowered to enter the workplace or to pursue further studies with confidence
