Disability Advocacy Service (DAS) is a community managed not for profit organisation based in Alice Springs, providing essential advocacy and support services to people with disabilities across Central Australia and the Barkly region. They have a proud 30 year history delivering best practice and client focused free, confidential advocacy services that support and enable client to exercise their human rights in accordance with the Disability Advocacy Standards.
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for achieving quality operational outcomes for people with a disability across all program areas and for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and service agreements along with extensive experience working directly with a Board or Committee of Management.
The successful candidate will have relevant, tertiary qualifications and experience managing all aspects of a community based organisation, preferably within the disability sector, whilst providing strategic direction through the implementation of the strategic and business plans and systemic advocacy work at a local and national level.
You will be a values driven leader with a passion for social justice and supporting people and communities to reach their full potential, with the ability to work collaboratively, whilst empowering, nurturing and mentoring your team to operate and deliver within best practice principles in line with the organisations Vision, Mission and Values.
In addition, you will have a proficient commercial business acumen and operational excellence, enabling you to lead and direct business development, community engagement and oversee the day-to-day operations to achieve optimum outcomes for the organisation. Candidates with previous experience working with a peak body and proficient negotiation and mediation skills will be held in high regard.
