About the role
The Bequests Program Manager will play a pivotal role in Compassion’s efforts to grow its Bequests and Legacy Giving program, shaping Compassion's legacy offering in the market. This is a strategic role responsible for managing both broader mass audience campaigns to drive bequest leads from Compassion’s supporter base as well as high-net-worth (HNW) relationships. The role will work closely with the Major Giver and Supporter Contact Centre team ensuring alignment across Compassion’s broader fundraising efforts. Additionally, the role will involve aspects of product development, allowing the creation and refinement of pledging options that resonate with supporters.
The role is initially a contract position, with a view to extension depending on the success and growth of the bequests program.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Development & Strategy
- Further develop and execute Compassion’s Bequests strategy to grow legacy giving.
- Analyse market trends and supporter behaviour to inform and refine strategies for both HNW and mass audience segments.
- Relationship
- Nurture relationships with confirmed and prospective bequestors.
- Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders including solicitors, executors, and family members of bequest leavers.
- Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Marketing, Supporter Engagement Centre, and Data Analytics to ensure campaigns are supported across the organisation.
- Provide guidance and support for legacy giving conversations across teams, including training for staff in the Major Giver and Supporter Engagement Centre teams.
- Campaign Management & Product Development
- Design and implement high-volume bequest campaigns targeting Compassion’s broader supporter base through multiple channels (EDMs, direct mail, etc.).
- Develop marketing and communications strategies to engage supporters, grow bequest leads, and guide potential supporters from interest to confirmed pledges.
- Track and analyse the performance of bequest campaigns, using data and insights to refine campaign effectiveness and product development initiatives.
- Lead product development efforts to create and refine legacy giving options that appeal to prospective supporters.
- Reporting & Analysis
- Track and report on key metrics, including opportunities, confirmed pledges, realised bequests and forecasting.
About you
- You have proven experience in Bequest or Legacy Giving management within a charity or non-profit.
- You have strong relationship management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage both mass audiences and HNW individuals.
- You have experience in leading mass-marketing campaigns to generate leads.
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to inspire and engage different audiences.
- You have experience working with CRM systems and other data management tools for tracking donor interactions.
- You have strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- You have a passion for Compassion’s mission to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.
Desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Fundraising, or a related field.
- Experience in estate planning or working with solicitors on legacy giving.
