Chief Executive Officer - Cooma

Cooma Challenge Limited

Cooma Challenge, established in 1954, is proud of its history in the Snowy-Monaro region supporting children, young people and adults with disabilities and, more recently, supporting older people. As we have grown over the years, we have maintained our overriding commitment to quality care and services, tailored to the needs of individuals, enabling them to live the life they choose.

We employ more than 100 people, including people with disability participating in supported employment, and we deliver services to more than 200 people in our local community.

The core beliefs that underpin our work are compassion, respect, enabling, inclusion and innovation.

About the role

Working collaboratively with the Board and senior managers, you will lead and facilitate the implementation of the organisation’s commercial, financial, strategic and operational objectives and priorities. This includes oversight and leadership of the organisation in the provision of quality service for our clients within the scope of NDIS and Aged Care programs. Guiding and supporting the organisation through the ongoing changes and developments in the disability and aged care sectors is a key responsibility of the role.

We are deeply committed to creating opportunities for people with disability in communities across the Snowy-Monaro. Over the coming years, we aim to grow our services and operations to expand those opportunities. An important and exciting aspect of this role is to identify growth opportunities and, in turn, develop new services and businesses.

About you

You will be an experienced leader in the Human Services sector, ideally in a small not-for-profit organisation.

You will also have:

  • Considerable experience in the disability, aged care or health industries.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business or management (or related field), along with qualifications in leadership.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level relationship-building skills, to engage with a range of stakeholders, create partnerships and build effective networks.
  • A strong commitment to the inclusion and empowerment of people with disabilities and the frail aged.
  • High level leadership and management skills.
  • Experience or qualifications related to marketing or business development.

Experience in starting up new services or businesses will be well regarded.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a regional community-based organisation and make a positive impact on the lives of people with disability and the frail aged.

The position is full-time, based in Cooma, NSW. Salary (including vehicle and generous salary packaging) will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
