ABOUT US

Cosmos Alliance is a small Perth-based Christian health and development charity. We exist to help improve access to health services and programs through a variety of empowerment, training and development projects in developing nations. Since our inception in 2002, we have helped thousands of people in developing nations access quality health programs. Our organisation is faith-based and relies on donor support to fund all our activities. We are currently working alongside partners in Zimbabwe, Uganda and Papua New Guinea.

THE ROLE

This is a new role requiring an organised person with strong administrative skills and an understanding of training program development. We are seeking someone to support the development and ongoing improvement of training programs to be delivered by Cosmos Alliance teams and local health workers in places including Papua New Guinea, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. The aim is to move our in-country partners towards a greater level of independence and sustainability.

This is a permanent part-time (14 hours per week) position based in our office in Bentley (some work from home may be possible from time to time). You will be part of a small team of five people and report directly to the CEO.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • A Christian heart to relieve suffering and to empower people. You must share a commitment to the Cosmos Alliance mission, values, and ethos.
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of good community development practice, prioritising sustainability through empowerment and respectful relationships.
  • Excellent writing, computer skills and organisational skills to be able to deliver well-structured and consistently formatted program material using Microsoft Office.
  • Be team orientated, flexible and easy-going with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully and in a professional manner with our partners across cultures and different levels of society.
  • Be able to think critically and outside the box to turn concepts into reality.
  • Have a commitment to gender equality and demonstrate this in practice.
  • Be willing to travel internationally to meet our organisational needs, if funding allows.

Desirable:

  • Experience in training program development - designing, monitoring, and evaluating projects, focusing on developing training and empowerment programs that meet our partners specific needs.
  • Qualifications – Cert IV Training and Assessment (or willingness to complete), Education Degree, International Development degree or similar.
  • Experience working in the faith sector for a Christian training organisation, NGO, or a school.
  • Experience in the use of visual communication design tools such as Canva.

REFEREES

A minimum of two references from the following people are required when applying for this position:

  1. A past employer or business referee in a relevant field.
  2. University Lecturer in a relevant field.
  3. A local church Pastor / Leader.
