Courage to Care is a leading charity dedicated to educating on the dangers of racism, discrimination and prejudice. We offer Upstander education programs to schools across Victoria and our aim is to create a generation of Upstanders.

The School Program Coordinator (SPC) role is responsible for the the coordination of school bookings, rostering and logistics for the Secondary Years Program (SYP) and Middle Years Program (MYP). Your contribution will ensure that our volunteers can be out in schools working directly with students, educating the next generation about the dangers of racism, discrimination and bystander behaviour.

  • Ongoing, permanent part time role
  • 0.8FTE (ideally across minimum of 4 days)
  • Combination of working from home and in the office (Caulfield)

WITH DIRECT REPORTING TO THE OPERATIONS MANAGER, THIS POSITION WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Coordinating school workshop programs (incursions – SYP and MYP, in person & remote delivery) including:
    • Promotion to schools
    • Manage incursion availability offered to schools
    • Respond to enquiries, briefing teachers on requirements
    • Take school bookings based on availability
    • Update database with all program and contact details
    • Coordinate school call and visit teams as required
    • Organise program logistics including ensuring schools provide required space, resources and technology
    • Brief team on arrangements with the schools and their respective roles
    • Brief drivers
    • Supervise volunteers to prepare consumable materials for programs
    • Document communication with schools both before and after program delivery
    • Follow-up with schools and volunteers after the program
    • Liaise with schools and team members about school donations
  • Assist with the day-to-day organisation and administration of volunteer roster requirements, transport and accommodation
  • Deliver Upstander programs in schools as a backup program delivery resource when needed.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • High computer-literacy with MS Office software, comfortable and experienced in online communications, cloud file-sharing and database use
  • Strong organisational abilities including planning with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills to sensitively interact with volunteers from a range of backgrounds and age groups, school staff and other stakeholders
  • Ability to take initiative and self-motivated to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Teamwork skills to effectively work with other staff and volunteers to plan and organise program delivery and assist with Courage to Care events
  • Familiarity with the Victorian education system is desirable
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Willingness to be flexible and work outside of standard business hours, if required
  • Willingness to be trained in Upstander program delivery for backup support.
