  • Salary Range: $74,580 to $104,762 (effective 1st December 2023), Salary is determined on level of skills and experience
  • Accountability: The position is accountable to the Branch Secretary through the relevant Team Leader

CPSU SPSF group covers workers in the Victorian public service and public sector. Our members come from a range of diverse and exciting workplaces across all State Government Departments and Agencies, including the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, the Department of Health, Arts agencies, Prisons, Parks & Gardens, Zoos and many more. CPSU SPSF’s purpose is to build the collective power of workers to deliver fair pay, good working conditions and a voice at work.

The role of Industrial Organiser is an essential part of building a powerful union that can deliver for Victorian public service and public sector workers. The role is primarily responsible for building membership, activism, supporting members to solve workplace problems, and building the capacity of the union in designated workplaces.

This position is located in a supportive team environment, working with others who are passionate about workers’ rights and committed to union values. 

DUTIES

Our Industrial Organisers:

  • Recruit members to the union
  • Build activism and commitment to the union
  • Find, develop and mentor workplace delegates
  • Provide industrial advice and support to members
  • Run campaigns on specific issues in workplaces
  • Work with delegates and members to solve problems
  • Participate in Enterprise Bargaining negotiations

Industrial Organisers conduct this work with a significant level of autonomy within their designated patches, but with opportunities for cooperation and collaboration with other members of the team.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • A commitment to union values and principles
  • High level verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed written communication skills
  • Ability to lead and organise, build relationships, motivate and develop individuals and groups
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan and organise work and achieve outcomes
  • Ability to work semi-autonomously, demonstrate initiative, drive and resilience in a changing environment
  • Current Drivers License

OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION

  • The job is located at 128 Exhibition Street, Melbourne Vic 3000
  • Travel to Regional Victoria will be required.
