ABOUT THE ROLE

We're seeking a skilled Community Development officer who has a knack for connecting with people and great communication and marketing skills, to drive community engagement and promote our programs. The successful applicant will develop programs, engage the community and meet local needs in our well respected Community Centre. The incumbent will identify emerging trends, carry out assessments of community need and establish programs that will reach marginalised and disadvantaged members of our community. They will facilitate events and social opportunities and will assist in maintaining an active and informative social media presence as well as through newsletters and other communication channels. They will also engage and support the volunteers who work within our Centre

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be dedicated to inclusivity and community well-being. They will have a background working in community-based organisations and will have a strong understanding of Community Development philosophy and practice, with a relevant qualification and/or substantial experience in the field.

Strongly preferred:

  • Comprehensive understanding and use of content management systems (including WordPress and Mailchimp) and social networking media, including Facebook and Instagram and Canva strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally both independently and in a team, in a busy office environment
  • Excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm to work positively with diverse groups of people (culture, sexuality, age, gender, ability etc)
  • Experience and skill in supervising relief office staff and volunteers
