The purpose of Family Violence Programs is to empower victim-survivors to heal from the impacts of trauma and reclaim their sense of identity, self-worth and hope for the future. We do this through the provision of post-crisis support services, including group therapy, case management and occasional childcare. All services are grounded in a trauma-informed approach where participant agency, choice and empowerment are centred.

The Role

Crossway LifeCare’s Family Violence Program is seeking to appoint a Family Violence Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team. This dual role will be responsible for the provision of case management support as well as intake assessments. People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management support to victim-survivors who are participating in Courage to Heal, a 12-month group therapy program
  • Provide risk assessment and safety planning support in line with the MARAM Framework
  • Refer participants to additional supports as needed
  • Liaise with referring organisations to strengthen and build referral pathways
  • Process all referrals to Family Violence Programs, conducting triage and intake assessments with victim-survivors to ascertain eligibility
  • Liaise with team members to provide holistic, collaborative support to participants

Essential Criteria

You are a team player who is efficient, confident to take initiative and up for a laugh.

You have:

  • Qualifications and experience in social work, counselling, psychology and occupational therapy. A tertiary qualification in Social Work (in line with the AASW’s practice standards) will be highly regarded.
  • Experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma
  • A knowledge of family violence, including the cycle of violence, causes of family violence and the impact of family violence on victim-survivors
  • High interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with people from diverse populations
  • Written communication skills and solid computer literacy
  • The ability to operate from a trauma-informed, intersectional lens
  • A passion for supporting people affected by gender-based violence
  • A commitment to the vision, mission and values of Crossway LifeCare
  • A current Victorian Driver’s license and mode of transport
