ABOUT CUFA

CUFA is an international NGO working to combat poverty in ultra-poor communities across the Asia Pacific region. Founded in 1971, CUFA focuses its work on economic activities and financial inclusion through facilitating the development of village savings and loans groups, micro-enterprise, financial literacy, employment and education projects.

CUFA has an office in Sydney and three international offices in PNG, Cambodia and Myanmar. The Sydney office contains a small team which focusses on business development, grant management, quality project oversight, and fundraising and marketing activities.

Key objectives for the position

  1. Manage existing consulting/grant portfolio of work (75%)
  2. Support marketing efforts (15%)
  3. Researching and pursuing select grant opportunities (10%)

The Senior Manager is primarily responsible for managing existing ADB consulting projects – this includes two live activities. As a secondary responsibility, the position will support marketing activities through communication products and engagement, as well as research new grant and tender opportunities through multilateral organisations, governments and foundations, helping submit targeted tenders and proposals.

A probation period of three months will be in place and contingent on the successful achievement of the KPIs.

  • Chief Executive Officer

  • Country managers and project staff in each country
  • Funding partners such as the Asian Development Bank and UN agencies

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage overall inputs from consultants on live ADB and UN consulting projects
  • Support marketing strategy through contributions to our social media platforms and raise public profile through appropriate channels
  • Research tender and grant opportunities through governments, multilaterals and global foundations
  • Write expressions of interest, tenders and grant proposals

REPORTING STRUCTURE

Reports to: CEO

Direct reports: Nil

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, business or international development
  • Experience writing grant applications
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in an international context
  • Attention to detail and driven by deadlines
  • Flexibility, resilience, ambition, a sense of humour and the ability to work well in a small team
  • An interest in not-for-profits and/or international aid

WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Adherence to written confidentiality policy/agreement is required.
  • The successful candidate must have the right to work in Australia.
  • Permanent appointment to this position is dependent upon successful completion of a Police Check and signing of child protection policy and procedure code of conduct.
  • Commitment and adherence to CUFA policies and procedures is required.
