We are a registered charity run by a committee of volunteers. 100% of funds raised are used towards realising our vision of supporting terminally ill parents, their partners and young families.

Derek's Place seeks a dedicated and visionary Chairperson to lead our management committee. We have been operating since 2020 as an organisation. We are ready to increase our community profile and fundraising efforts as well as extend our support to children with a terminally ill parent.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans in alignment with Derek's Place's mission and goals. Provide insightful leadership in all strategic discussions and decisions, ensuring the organisation's sustainable growth and impact.
• Governance and Compliance: Oversee the organisation's governance framework, ensuring compliance with all statutory obligations, regulatory requirements, and best practices in nonprofit management. This includes regular review of governance policies, risk management, and legal obligations.
• Fundraising and Resource Mobilisation: Take a proactive role in fundraising activities, including the development and submission of grant applications, leading major fundraising events, and cultivating relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners. Drive initiatives to secure annual donations exceeding $150,000, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of Derek's Place.
• Management Committee Leadership: Effectively lead the Management Committee by facilitating meetings, encouraging active participation, and ensuring decisions are made in the best interests of Derek's Place. Mentor and support committee members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
• Sub-committee Oversight: Act as the primary leader for sub-committees, ensuring alignment with overall strategic goals, effective operation, and reporting.
• Organisational Representation: Represent Derek's Place at public events, in the media, and in interactions with key stakeholders. Act as the face of the organisation, effectively communicating its mission, vision, and achievements.
