A little about the role
DPV Health seek to engage a worker with lived experience of mental health issues to provide peer support in the Head to Health program at the Broadmeadows Super Clinic. The Head to Health program deliver holistic care for anyone of any age experiencing emotional distress, mental ill health and/ or addiction.
- You will deliver and evaluate the CHECK-IN peer support program, which supports consumers who experience mental health challenges due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.
- Provide support to consumers in one-to-one and group settings, both over the phone, via video call and in-person.
- Take a strengths-based approach informed by Narrative Therapy and Intentional Peer Support and encourage consumers to be involved in their own care, treatment or rehabilitation program.
- Support clinical Head to Health staff to understand the value, benefit, and importance of peer work, enabling clinical staff to embrace lived experience workforce.
About you
You will have knowledge or experience in:
- The issues facing consumers of mental health services.
- Delivering advocacy (or similar) services within community development programs, in Mental Health.
- Consumer participation at an individual, group and organisation level.
- Communicating, collaborating with, and representing a diverse range of people in both and individual and a group setting.
Desirable:
- Certificate IV in Peer Work or Intentional Peer Support Working Training
- Tertiary education in community services, community development or other relevant areas or an equivalent combination of experience, education, or training.
