Established in 1996, VACCHO represents the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Victoria. VACCHO leads and supports the Aboriginal Community Control and the broader health and social services sector to deliver health and wellbeing outcomes.
With 33 member organisations, VACCHO supports around 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Victoria. Their vision is for vibrant, healthy, self-determining Aboriginal communities, as outlined in their Strategic Plan: On Solid Ground (2021-26).
VACCHO welcomes and embraces diversity, including all LGBTQIASB+ community members, and promotes equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We are now seeking qualified First Nations Educators and/or Educators experienced and currently working with, or for Aboriginal communities in a training and educational capacity to train and assess within Counselling, Alcohol & Other Drugs, and Leadership and Management qualifications.
The learning environment is designed as one-week blocks per month for each course, with classroom sessions making up 3 days per week and preparation, student 1:1 and assignment marking 2 days per week. You will also enjoy regional travel opportunities to deliver training and further enhance relationships with member ACCOs.
We seek applications from Victorian-based Trainers holding current TAE qualifications, industry experience in the qualification to be delivered, and life experience working with, supporting and educating First Nations people.
To further assist you in this role, VACCHO's delivery model includes Aboriginal Student Mentors in the classroom, who serve as additional support options for the learners.
If you are passionate about advancing Aboriginal peoples through training and further education, and you want to support and inspire current and emerging Aboriginal leaders and practitioners, this role is for you!
ABN Contract Trainers are also welcome to apply.
