MyTime Facilitators x2 - Tarneit / Maidstone

Down Syndrome Victoria

MYTIME

The MyTime program is an initiative funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS) and coordinated nationally by the Parenting Research Centre (PRC). It is a facilitated peer support group that promotes connection to other families and their community.

Down Syndrome Victoria (DSV) is MyTime’s sole Victorian delivery partner.

The MyTime program has a region-based delivery structure. This ensures consistency in the geographic spread of services and provides greater clarity around service delivery expectations.

DSV delivers 40 groups, allowing us to connect and offer support to parents and caregivers across the state.

See the website at mytime.net.au.

The objective of MyTime is to establish and maintain peer support groups that increase parents/carers feelings of support in their caring role.

MyTime groups are conducted by a facilitator who is responsible for leading parent discussions on various topics throughout the term. Pre-school children can attend the group with their parents/carers, (including siblings) where a play helper engages the children in meaningful play experiences. The play sessions run concurrently, so that parents/carers can participate and engage in the discussion and participate in group sessions and activities.
