The Development and Vision of START

Led by our well-respected DFV Clinical Governance Team, and alongside the Griffith Beacon Disrupting Violence Team the START Project will implement a cutting edge and innovative approach to work with Queensland men who use violence in relationships. With combined experience in working with men, women and children impacted by DFV this program will undergo consistent and rigorous evaluation.

Collectively, we have efficiently conducted comprehensive academic and grey literature reviews and investigations on program scopes to identify what is genuinely missing in the sector! We aim to successfully address these gaps and enable men to voluntarily connect with appropriate social and service supports to facilitate conversations about their use of domestic and family violence and set clear goals to stop DFV behaviour.

KEY PRINCIPLES

  • SELF, TRANSFORMATION, ACCOUNTABILITY, RESPECT, TOGETHER!

Position Overview

  • Employment Term: Fixed-term 30/06/2025, Full-time (Mon-Fri)
  • Location: ON-SITE, Central Office (Brisbane, QLD)

As the Men's Accountability Practitioner, you will work collaboratively with the Mensline Team Leader and in partnership with the Clinical Governance and Research Specialist team to evolve, support and lead the pilot project. You will be virtually (telephone and/or video chat) working with individual men who use DFV, by providing non-judgmental counselling and effectively guiding them to understand their use of violence through highly effective engagement and assessment strategies. Additionally, you will seek consent from your client to connect with their social and service supports for the purpose of building a solid accountability network. You will be responsible for providing individualised strategies to enact change.

This role requires a flexible approach as you may need to provide additional support to the broader Mensline Team through service delivery and quality and training activities. As a member of the leadership team, you may engage in mentoring, debriefing, delivering staff performance reviews, and ensuring compliance with HSQF standards. At times, you may need to support clinical induction, onboarding of new team members, and skill development of current staff.
