Position Overview

  • Employment Term: Permanent part-time (evening and weekends only)
  • Location: ON-SITE, Central Office (Brisbane, QLD)
  • Remuneration: Social Community Home Care Disability Award Level 5 (pay point dependent on qualifications and relevant experience). Superannuation.

As a Senior Practitioner on the Mensline team, you will provide on-shift support through quality mentorship and offering ongoing best practice advice.

You will also promote reflective practice, offer constructive guidance, and conduct effective debriefing sessions. You will actively engage with inbound calls and referrals, complete accurate assessments to determine the person most in need of protection and demonstrate appropriate responses to managing risk.

Additionally, you will also be the primary point of escalation for counsellors and, as directed by the Team Leader, responsible for managing high-risk and complex cases.

Your focus will also be on improving and maintaining team performance and ensuring professional assessments align with DVConnect's practice standards and the Human Service Quality Framework (HSQF). At times, you will undertake quality and training activities, such as supporting the clinical induction of new team members when required.

Position Requirements

  • Completed tertiary qualification in Behavioural Science, Social Work, Human Services, or other relevant fields acceptable by DVConnect.
  • Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in the social and community services sector at a mid-senior level role.
  • Professional experience in assessing indicators of whether the caller is a person who uses violence or one who is subjected to violence in his personal relationship and demonstrated ability to respond appropriately to this assessment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act 2012, Domestic Violence Orders and Child Protection Act 1999 (or willingness to obtain).
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the effects, causes and dynamics of domestic and family violence.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and enhance relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including both government and non-government organisations.
  • High level of empathy and cultural awareness when engaging with diverse groups; including working towards supportive and culturally safe spaces for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Positive Notice Blue Card and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain before commencing employment.
  • Committed to attending DVC’s Central Brisbane Office for all shifts.
  • Must be available to attend mandatory onboarding training and shadow shifts before commencing permanent roster.
  • Valid photo ID.
  • Right to work in Australia.
