Men's behaviour change - promoting positive change and safety

Welcome to the Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to reducing domestic and family violence (DFV) in the Canberra community since 1988. Our mission is to create a world free from violence and abuse by focusing on prevention, early intervention, response and recovery for those impacted by DFV.

And this is where you come in...

DVCS is seeking a dedicated Men's Behaviour Change Practitioner to join our innovative Room4Change program in the ACT. In this role, you'll encourage conversations that challenge societal norms and individual belief systems that condone violence.

What You'll Do:

  • Engage with men who use controlling and violent behaviours to conduct program intake and assessment, group-readiness and case management appointments
  • Prepare, co-facilitate and observe men's behaviour change groups including Duluth and Caring Dads™ curriculums
  • Collaborate with other DVCS practitioners and external agencies to support integrated risk assessment and effective safety planning
  • Contribute to administrative tasks such as booking appointments, completing case notes, and reporting.

Your Strengths:

  • Experience working with people subjected to or using DFV including as a Case Manager, Case Coordinator, Support Worker or Practitioner
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complex dynamics of DFV particularly coercive control
  • Confidence to engage with men to explore uncomfortable topics, encouraging them to take responsibility for the impact of their behaviour
  • Group facilitation skills including ability to create a space where participants can consider being safer parents and partners
  • Openness to feedback and continuous growth and learning.

Why Join DVCS:

  • Be part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary team working towards a shared goal
  • Benefit from professional development opportunities and access to a wide range of expert practitioners
  • Make a tangible difference in the lives of people impacted by violence.

If you're ready to contribute to positive change and support men in breaking the cycle of violence, apply today and become a vital member of the DVCS team!
