This newly created position is an exciting opportunity for a domestic and family violence expert who is passionate about building capacity of early career workers and improving service delivery in the domestic and family violence sector, with a focus on intersectionality.

ABOUT US

With over 180 members DVNSW is the peak body for specialist domestic and family violence (DFV) services in New South Wales. We work as a collaborative and passionate team to end gendered violence through leadership of the specialist DFV sector and the NSW policy environment. We are responsible for driving systemic change across society and governments, supporting our members through advocacy and capacity building and promoting best practice in early identification, responses, and primary prevention.

THE ROLE

As a newly established role the responsibilities and work plan will be flexible and developed in alignment with training priorities identified by the domestic and family violence (DFV) sector. Role responsibilities include the following:

  • Co-ordinate and facilitate online Communities of Practice for early career workers.
  • Develop, distribute and analyse a targeted survey to gain an understanding of the intersectional sector development priorities for the domestic and family violence sector.
  • Develop and deliver workforce training with a focus on intersectionality.
  • Support Sector Development Manager to deliver learning and development strategy and key initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key organisations that bring an intersectional lens.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including Government, other peaks and front-line service providers.
  • Manage agencies supporting with the development of resources for example designer, videographers etc.
  • Create engaging training content with key learning outcomes for target audiences. Develop resources that target learning and development priorities such as fact sheets, practice guides, videos and/or animations.
  • Develop online content, training session materials and presentations etc.

About you

To be suitable for this role, you would need:

  • Experience in the domestic and family violence services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of intersectional approaches to DFV service responses.
  • Skills in delivering training both in-person and virtually
  • Skills in establishing and facilitating workshops, consultations and group discussions.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building skills.
  • Passion for learning, development and capacity building.
  • Skills in researching and condensing content into training materials both for online training modules and in-person delivery.
  • Time management, flexibility and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Aligns to the values and vision of DVNSW.
  • Skills using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook
  • Flexible and adaptable to work outside of core hours
  • A sense of humour

Desirable skills:

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with external stakeholders to achieve project objectives (e.g. Department of Communities and Justice, peak bodies and service providers).
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in undertaking end-to-end project management, including planning, implementation and coordination of project milestones and deliverables.
  • Experience managing program reporting related to government grants, organisational impact and outcome reporting.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Previous experience within the domestic and family violence sector is desirable.
