So often children can be the silent victims of domestic and family violence (DFV), and it’s often the underlying cause of many child protection cases. Through a new project utilising the Safe and Together approach, we have the opportunity to help change this story by building stronger collaboration between the child protection and DFV sectors.

DVNSW is looking for a part-time project manager to deliver this exciting project in partnership with Safe and Together Institute and the University of Melbourne.

If you have experience in the domestic and family violence sector and/or child protection sector, have strong project and stakeholder manager skills and an understanding of the Safe and Together approach – this role is for you.

The role is for 3 days (neg) and includes flexible, hybrid working and will involve travel across NSW to visit service providers involved in the project.

As a peak body, DVNSW is the thought leader in the Domestic and Family Violence sector, responsible for driving systemic change across society and governments and supporting our members through advocacy and capacity building. With over 150 members, we work as a collaborative and passionate team to end gendered violence across the state. Aligned to our 2021-2024 Strategic Plan, this position will help us grow our voice and reach and would suit someone who understands the DFV sector and shares our vision of women, families and communities in NSW living free from violence, having equal rights, equal opportunities and the freedom to reach their potential.

THE ROLE

This role will suit candidates who are familiar with the NSW DFV sector and child protection sector and have experience in project and stakeholder management. The role will also involve flexible, hybrid working and the capacity to undertake travel across NSW to visit service providers involved in the project.

The Project Manager will provide the overarching project management and governance coordination for the project.

  • Project meeting facilitation
  • Governance meeting facilitation
  • Stakeholder management
  • Project reporting
  • Oversee contractors and suppliers
  • Deliver project milestones
  • Capacity building and workshop coordination – venues, catering, attendee correspond
  • Community of practice coordination and communications
  • Support capacity building facilitation if required

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Tertiary education in a relevant discipline such as social science, community development, psychology etc. is desirable
  • A strong understanding of the NSW domestic and family violence service sector, funding and policy context.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Experience establishing and managing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to work remotely and work independently to achieve a project plan.
  • Experience working in a culturally safe, sensitive and appropriate manner.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Flexible and adaptable to work outside of core hours
  • Capacity to undertake travel across NSW to visit service providers
  • Skills using MS Office and Microsoft Outlook
  • A sense of humour
