EACH Childcare Centre, a purpose-built 122-place centre in Ringwood East, is looking for an enthusiastic Childcare Chef to join our team. We provide care and education for children aged up to five years and are committed to creating a positive environment that promotes children's health and well-being.

About the Role

As our Childcare Chef, you will play a vital role in ensuring children receive nutritious, attractively presented meals while fostering their interest in food. From planning balanced menus to involving children in growing and preparing their food, your contribution will shape healthy eating habits from an early age.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop child-friendly, nutritious menus in line with state Dietary Guidelines and the Centre's Food Safety Program.
  • Cater to children with special dietary requirements or allergies.
  • Prepare well-presented, nutritious meals on time and in the required quantities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic kitchen environment in accordance with government legislation and centre policy.
  • Manage food ordering and purchasing to ensure quality and quantity, while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with the Centre Manager on menu planning and food-related activities.

What You Bring

Skills:

  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Basic computer skills for menu planning and ordering.

Experience:

  • Experience as a Chef or Cook, ideally in an Early Childhood setting.
  • Experience in healthy menu planning and food safety management.

Qualifications and Licences

  • Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or equivalent.
  • Food Safety Supervisor’s Certificate.
  • Anaphylaxis Training.
  • Highly Regarded: First Aid training.
