About the program

EACH is thrilled to announce the launch of our headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) service in Tasmania! This groundbreaking program aims to revolutionise mental health care by providing early detection and intervention for young individuals (aged 12-25) who are at risk of, or experiencing, a first episode of psychosis.

About the role

As the Clinical Director – headspace Early Psychosis, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing clinical responsibilities and ensuring seamless access to services, working in partnership with the Manager – headspace Early Psychosis to deliver high-quality mental health care.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clinical leadership to deliver exceptional mental health services to young people within the headspace Early Psychosis framework
  • Overseeing professional governance for medical staff within the service
  • Collaborating with managers to plan and implement coordinated clinical services
  • Maintaining relationships with Tasmania Health to ensure access pathways to emergency departments and inpatient beds
  • Supporting the EPPIC model of care with high fidelity

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and attributes:

  • Qualifications as a medical practitioner registered with AHPRA, coupled with fellowship status in the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
  • Experience or qualifications in management and administration (desirable)
  • A thorough understanding of the Tasmanian mental health sector and relevant legislation
  • Extensive experience in clinical psychiatry, with a track record of developing and implementing innovative programs for individuals experiencing mental illness
  • Demonstrated expertise in medical management, strategic planning, and accreditation
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to educate, lead and inspire multi-disciplinary teams

About headspace

The headspace program offers an “open door”, easily accessible, early intervention service for young people wishing to obtain support for mental health or substance use issues. The headspace Early Psychosis program is a specialist service which focuses on providing comprehensive services to support young people who are at risk of developing a psychotic illness, or those who have experienced a first episode of psychosis.
