About the General Practice and Nurse Led Specialty Service

Primary Care is a program area of EACH responsible for delivering upon a range of Primary Care services including Medical, Nursing, Allied Health and Oral Health. The General Practice and Nurse Led Specialty Service operates as a team within Primary Care and is responsible for delivering high quality medical and nursing services across the outer east region of Melbourne.

We are a multidisciplinary team of GPs, Registered Nurses, and allied health professionals working collaboratively and alongside the Refugee Health Program. We are a recognised Sexual and Reproductive Health Hub for the Department of Human Services as well as one of the Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain clinics in Victoria, delivering services such as:

  • Long Acting Reversible Contraception (IUD, Implanon)
  • Cervical screening
  • Pregnancy and fertility care
  • Maternity shared care
  • Menstrual health care
  • Menopause Care
  • Pelvic Pain management
  • Medical Termination of Pregnancy
  • Immunisation
  • PrEP
  • Blood Borne Virus and Sexually Transmitted Infection checks

Position summary

The General Practitioner will provide medical expertise, in the delivery of Sexual and Reproductive Health Care to vulnerable groups. Working in close collaboration with our team of Refugee Health GP’s, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurses and Bicultural workers, you will contribute to a multidisciplinary model of care aimed at maximising the health outcomes of our clients. In conjunction with our Registered Nurses, this position plays a lead role in coordinating the sexual and reproductive health needs for women and those affirmed female at birth, in the Outer East.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified and vocationally registered General Practitioner, with a fellowship at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or the Australian College of Rural and remote Medicine (ACRRM),
  • Registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA
  • Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health certification
  • Medical Indemnity Insurance
  • Experience: 5+ years as a GP with expertise in sexual and reproductive health.
  • Skills: Proficient in LARC management and complex pelvic pain.
