Job Description

Empower the next generation of young leaders

  • Working days: Part-time, 3 days a week max term until June 2025
  • Compensation: Starting rate will be $43.27 p/h
  • Location: Doncaster, on the lands of the Wurundjeri People

About the Role

In this role, you’ll provide a welcoming, safe, and engaging space for young people. You'll be the first point of contact at the Manningham Youth Hub during afternoon and evening hours, helping connect visitors with support systems and overseeing positive, youth-focused activities. You’ll also play a crucial role in data collection and communication with the wider Manningham Youth Services team to ensure seamless support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with young people, understanding the everyday challenges they face, such as issues related to education, employment, identity, and family.
  • Provide a welcoming environment at the Youth Hub, managing afternoon/evening shifts throughout the week.
  • Work collaboratively with the Manningham Youth Services team to schedule activities and solve problems.
  • Assist young people by linking them with relevant local services and support networks.
  • Oversee youth activities, fostering a safe and positive environment for growth.
  • Collect and forward essential data to the Team Leader for follow-up.

What We’re Looking For

  • Ability to communicate with young people from diverse backgrounds, with empathy and an open mind.
  • Great time management skills and flexibility to work part-time, afternoon, and evening shifts.
  • Problem-solving, organisational skills, and the ability to work in a team.
  • Solid technical skills with experience using Microsoft functions.
  • An understanding of youth referral pathways and support systems.
  • Some experience in youth work is desirable, but we value any relevant experience from similar roles.

Qualifications

  • Certificate (or above) in Youth Work or a related field.
  • Completion of a Criminal History Check and an Employee Working With Children Check (or equivalent).
  • Willingness to comply with legislative and organisational policies regarding safety and wellbeing.
