Our Client, Servants Community Housing is a charity and registered housing provider. They provide safe, affordable housing to some of Melbourne’s most vulnerable, including people experiencing mental illness, trauma, homelessness and domestic violence. Their unique model includes onsite managers and the provision of an evening meal. Housing 96 residents across four Boroondara residences with support from local churches, community groups and professional services, Servants is known for building strong communities where respect, dignity, hope, and opportunity are nurtured.  

They are now seeking to appoint a new Business Manager to work directly with the Chief Executive Officer where you will provide strategic financial planning, budgeting, reporting and financial modelling as well as provide sound leadership and vision to the Finance and Administration team.  

Other key responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Maintaining effective financial and HR management, ensuring sound business practices and compliance are achieved, including community housing regulatory requirements.
  • Preparation of monthly financial management reports and month end processes, taxation and statutory compliance including P&L, Balance sheet and Budget performance;
  • Manage the annual budgeting, forecasting and audit processes.
  • Prepare and present financial and operational performance reports to the Board and Committees.
  • Liaise with management, and the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee in the preparation and approval process for the budget, including rent settings.
  • Be a key member of the Servants leadership team where you can add value on strategic and fundraising development opportunities.  

The successful candidate will be degree qualified in commerce/ or accounting, possess a track record of achievement in a key finance role where you have led change and improved business processes, with a focus on budgeting, financial planning and management reporting.

We are seeking an astute finance leader who can provide exemplary financial leadership and skill in a service organisation, be outcomes focused and have proven experience managing small teams and reporting to boards and sub committees. Your understanding of current accounting standards and tax regulations as they relate to not for profits will be highly regarded.
