About the role

The Human Resources and Industrial Relations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and contributing to all aspects of human resource processes and practices. The Human Resources and Industrial Relations Manager will develop and lead the Human Resources (HR) team and effectively manage industrial and employee relations, performance management, recruitment and retention, compliance, and provide support to payroll services.

The Human Resources and Industrial Relations Manager will lead HR and Industrial Relations strategies to align with organisational goals, ensuring compliance with the Enterprise Agreement, National Employment Standards (NES), the Fair Work Act, and Workplace Health and Safety legislation, with a focus supporting EARC’s business units. This role will oversee staff development and retention, and the resolution of complex employee relations issues, while driving diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

This position requires a leader who will effectively navigate complex challenges, while ensuring a compliant, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management.
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in successfully handling Industrial Relations matters.
  • Demonstrated high level of cross-cultural awareness to ensure effective participation in a multi-cultural workplace.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication which can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels.
  • Demonstrated initiative and managing workload priorities.
  • Ability to develop HR strategic direction and plans.
  • Ability to perform to an exceptional standard and as part of a team in an environment of high pressure.
  • Sound knowledge of Indigenous peoples’ employment challenges and promote a cultural framework in collaboration with employees.
  • Exceptional skills in communication, conflict resolution and negotiation, supported by contemporary methods of leadership and coaching techniques.
  • Experience to train and advise other staff in HR and workplace relations matters.
  • A ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.

It would be desirable if you also possessed:

  • Previous experience living and/or working in a remote First Nations community within Australia.
  • Awareness of issues affecting First Nations People in Australia.

All employment with EARC is subject to the successful completion of a Criminal History Check and the ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the position.

The preferred applicant must be prepared to travel and work for short periods in remote communities by various means including boat and light aircraft.

  • Full Time Permanent employment.
  • Level 10 - Salary $129,285 - $137,158 (excluding superannuation contributions and locality allowance) with annual wage increase opportunities built into our EBA.
  • You will also benefit from 6 weeks of Annual Leave, with 17.5% leave loading.
