  • Full time: 38 hours per week, two-year position with a 3mth probationary period. The role will require preparedness to work outside of normal working hours at times
  • Salary: $80,691.33 - $89,415.87 plus superannuation (11.5%) and five weeks leave, dependent on skills, experience and previous track record.
  • REPORTING: The position reports to the ECNT Executive Director. There are no reports to this position.

THE ROLE

The Environment Centre NT is looking for an experienced Campaigner to join our No New Gas program. The Northern Territory is currently facing unprecedented expansion of the gas industry, including fracking in the Beetaloo Basin, Santos’ Barossa project in the Timor Sea and the Middle Arm Petrochemicals & Gas Hub in the Darwin Harbour.

The Campaigner will work with local communities, organisations and the ECNT team to scrutinise these developments and to assist in the rapid transition to renewables.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategise, assist to develop and to implement the No New Gas campaign to change mindsets, shift power and protect our climate.
  • Develop political, public and stakeholder engagement strategies to achieve overarching campaign goals
  • Develop campaign projects, conduct research to support the program and prepare effective analysis
  • Generate and guide the development of inspiring content that encourages people to act.

Selection criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in nature conservation, advocacy space and related areas.
  • Commitment to the conservation and environment sector.
  • Passion for protecting and conserving NT nature.
  • Understanding of political decision making.
  • Strong stakeholder and decision-maker engagement and representation skills.
  • Demonstrated intelligent and impactful 2 campaigning skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in working with high performing teams.
  • Time management skills
  • Skills in media engagement and as a spokesperson.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and proven collaborative working style and experience.
