Do you have stories and experience you can share as a Volunteer Vocational Mentor in one of the following fields which have been identified by Mentees and can offer 2 hours a week in either Term 3 in 2021?
We are currently looking for individuals to start the process to become a school volunteers in Term 3, 2021. We know that students will need greater support as we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic and disrupted education of 2020. Vocational Mentoring Exchange has mentor roles available for volunteers who are keen to develop positive relationships with students in school settings, who are prepared to share their career journey and help students in undertaking their career journey.
As a mentor, you will be matched with a small group of students (2 to 3) undertaking VCAL programs. While a vocational work background is ideal, it is your experience in the workforce combined with your enthusiasm and desire to help students explore and make informed decisions to be better prepared for the workforce that will make you a good mentor.
In this role, you will develop a mutually cooperative and supportive relationship, focusing on life and vocational skills and tasks for up to 10 weeks in Term 3 (July to October) for an hour or 2 each week.
Through guiding students through activities and engaging in discussion, VCAL students will explore:

Full training (at this stage delivered live online) and support provided.
The mentoring sessions are held during school hours with the class teacher in attendance.
An important part of the sessions will be mentors sharing their career paths with mentees. If you have a positive attitude towards young people, good communication skills, an understanding of the work environment and a desire to guide and to inspire the next generation of tradespeople, we would like to hear from you.
