EDFA is the only national organisation focused solely on families and carers of those living with eating disorders. A not-for-profit organisation supported by a high calibre Board, EDFA provides support, education, advocacy, and counselling services to families and carers who are supporting someone with an eating disorder. The Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing EDFA’s financial transactions, including accounts payable, bookkeeping, and payroll. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth financial operations within EDFA. The position is perfect for someone with a strong background in finance and a passion for supporting a meaningful cause.

Our fully remote working team is located around Australia. This part-time role (0.2 FTE) can be undertaken from anywhere in Australia and flexible working arrangements are on offer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable / Receivable:

  • Process and manage all incoming invoices and ensure timely payment.
  • Reconcile and track accounts payable transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all payments and expenditures.
  • Record income from all sources, accurately tracking and allocating receipts in a timely manner.

Bookkeeping:

  • Record and categorise all financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and records.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and assist in monitoring cash flow.

Payroll:

  • Process payroll and salary sacrifice arrangements for employees on a fortnightly basis.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and handle payroll-related inquiries.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and present financial statements and reports to management as needed.
  • Assist Treasurer with budget preparation and financial forecasting.

Compliance:

  • Ensure all financial practices adhere to EDFA policies and relevant regulations.
  • Assist with annual audits and financial reviews as required.
  • Assist with grant acquittals and reporting.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation.
  • Lived experience of caring for someone with an eating disorder is highly desirable.
  • Relevant accounting or finance qualifications (e.g., CPA, CAANZ, or similar).
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, and payroll management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, specifically Xero, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members.
